About Bobby Jones
The golf instructional film series “Bobby Jones – How I Play Golf” was one of Bobby Jones’s first commercial projects after officially retiring from competitive golf.
The first series of films (12 episodes) were produced and distributed by Warner Bros. in 1931. The films were seen in movie theater’s nationwide by millions of adoring fans. They played just before the major feature film of that era.
The second series of fims (another 6 episodes) were filmed and released (also by Warner Bros.) in 1933.
Each episode runs between 10 and 13 minutes. Altogether the series represents more than 3 full hours of wonderful golf instruction and countless laughs.
Warner Bros. spared no expense in this production and even recruited famous feature film director George E. Marshall to guide the action behind the camera. Famous films stars from several studios joined Bobby in the action. Some of those stars include WC Fields, James Cagney, Loretta Young, Douglas Fairbanks Jr. and Edward G. Robinson!
All throughout the series Bobby Jones naturally plays along with his famous friends but also manages to deliver timeless tips on the great game of golf.
